Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW) is a community-based program of the American Chemical Society (ACS). This annual program unites ACS local sections, student chapters, technical divisions, businesses, schools, and individuals in communicating the positive role that chemistry plays in the world. CCEW occurs annually during the week of Earth Day, which is April 22.
The theme of 2025’s Chemists Celebrate Earth Week is Glaciers: cool chemistry, hot topic. During CCEW, ACS members and chemistry enthusiasts celebrate by coordinating events and communicating the importance of chemistry. This year CCEW is April 21-27.
The ACS Omaha section will celebrate CCEW with an outreach booth in the 2025 NE SciFest Free Public Expo on April 26 from 9am-noon at the Durham Museum. If you are interested in volunteering or would like complementary copies of the activity booklet Celebrating Chemistry, please contact CCEW coordinator Erin Gross (ErinGross@creighton.edu). If you are interested in activities and resources on this topic, check out the ACS CCEW website.
