Welcome to the ACS Omaha Local Section website!

The Omaha Nebraska local section of the American Chemical Society is committed to engaging and supporting the greater Omaha chemistry community. Through professional development, community building and outreach activities, we aim to connect, inform and inspire current and future generations of scientists, educators and students. This website acts as a hub to see our future events (see below) as well as a record of our past activities.

Our local section invites you to a celebration ofthe 150th anniversary of the American Chemical Society, onThursday, September 10th, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Saro Cider Event Lounge.

Come connect with local chemists, educators, students, and friends as we celebrate 150 years with our featured guest Dr. Rigoberto Hernandez, the 2026 ACS president and Gompf Family Professor at Johns Hopkins University.

The American Chemical Society Committee on Constitution and Bylaws has requested that the section update our bylaws to bring them back into consistency with the ACS Governing Documents. The section’s executive committee has proposed an updated version, which can be downloaded here, to be voted on with this year’s election ballot.
